Care and Maintenance
Ideally you should use a specially formulated wetsuit shampoo that is PH neutral and will not degrade the neoprene unnecessarily. Baby Shampoo will work in a pinch. Use luke warm water and not too much cleaner (as directed), rinse thoroughly and hang to dry. Once dry, it is important to take it off the hanger for long term storage, gravity will affect your suit and stretch shoulders etc. Do not fold your wetsuit for storage, instead roll it. Folding it will crease the neoprene which will create thin spots where the crease is.
Yes you can! Damage to wetsuits come in may forms, ranging from fingernail tears and large rips, to seam and stitching issues. While some of these may be covered by the manufactures warranty policy (Email us to find out), it is always and option to fix it yourself. Depending on the issue, in most cases some specially formulated neoprene glue can solve the problem. In more extreme cases, you can also reinforce rips with neoprene patches. Check out some of the repair glues and kits we sell. The steps and directions can be found on the packaging and online.
We always recommend a tiered approach to mask fogging situations. All masks will have a factory silicone coating applied to the inside of the lens. Some divers never have problems, others have fogging right away. We start simple with our solutions. The first thing you can try is just a defogging solution (we sell a couple), If that doesn't work the next thing you can try is removing the factory silicone coating with a non gel toothpaste. There some more invasive methods which include burning the silicone layer off, but this should not be attempted unless you feel you can accomplish it and have done adequate research. Any defogging method where you remove the factory silicone layer will void the warranty.
We like to replace our band annually, but ultimately you will notice when it is time by a few obvious indicators. Look for cuts and cracks where the band meets the wishbone which show the bands have dried out. Look for changes in texture, UV damage can soften the bands. Both of these lead to loss of power and the risk of breaking a band. wash your speargun (and bands) after every use and if you're not using the speargun for a time, place the bands in a cool dry place for longevity.
